When I found out that Ashely was pregnant, I knew that I had to capture her maternity photos. She is such a kind and selfless soul, someone who gives everything expecting nothing in return. Ashley was very hesitant to even do them, claiming to not “feel very gloomy or beautiful” but after a little coaxing we decided to do them in her adorable little beach bungalow as a surprise for her firefighter hubby.
This maternity session hold such a special place in my heart. Not only is it one of my favorite maternity sessions to date, but the momma to be is an incredibly talented artist and friend. Ashley is the one responsible for making flower crowns for all of my mommas and boudoir ladies. She and I were both art majors in college, and we re connected years later when I began my journey of full time photography, and I saw that she had transferred her extreme talent with a paint brush, to petals and leaves! Her crowns are like none other that I have ever seen before, each one its own piece of art. Ashley always goes above and beyond for all of my clients, over producing, and making each woman feel extremely feminine and beautiful.
Ashley and John met in college, in our advanced painting class. John was the “cute” boy in the studio, and the two of them just fit. They live in OB in the cutest little retro home, right by the beach, and their adventurous and artistic spirits shine through every inch of their home.
Start to finish, this session was pure magic. I had Ashley in tears (the good kind) over her images, and like so many of my hesitant mamas she was SO glad she captured this brief moment in her life! If you are like so many other mamas out there, hesitant to capture your maternity photos for fear of not feeling beautiful, PLEASE reconsider! Pregnancy is absolutely beautiful, and the miracle you are creating deserves to be documented.
